Undeniably, the adoption of active RFID tags is not so encouraging in comparison to passive RFID tags. However, a study report submitted by IDTechEx research asserts that the use of active RFID tags would grow rapidly form now onwards.
The report claims that Active RFID accounts only 20 percent of all spend on RFID. At present, several RFID applications have been more than $100 million.
The report predicts the value of sales of active RFID tags will now grow steadily to touch $6.78 billion in 2016 from $0.55 billion in 2006. The report was based on 70 case studies proving how active RFID is in use to bring improvement in business across the world.
Real Time Location Systems, Smart Active Labels and Sophisticated multifunctional devices would be the boosting factor for the growth of active RFID tags.
