The next time, you visit a shopping centre or showroom for a purchase, your behavior would be made known to the sellers. You may accept or reject this, but the myth is turning into reality in the RFID world.
A Japanese mobile company NTT DoCoMo has developed an RFID system for predicting behavior of the customers in these places.
Suppose a customer enters into a shop that is equipped with RFID tags. The RFID tag would transmit all the relevant data to a server regarding the customers behavior like what kind of product he prepares most and which product has drawn his attention etc.
The company says how the system works,
A consumer who is searching for a pair of shoes visits shoe shops A, B and C. The server guesses that this is what the consumer is doing on the basis of the RFID tags it receives from shops A, B and C and then sends the consumer special offers from shop D which they have yet to visit. The service even offers coupons for restaurants and coffee shops to consumers when it deems they must be getting tired from visiting shoe shops A, B, C and D!
As of now, the system is not officially available. It is in the testing stage at a shopping mall in Yokohama.
