BT Auto-ID Services has launched a new service that will speed up the implementation of RFID technology in the supply chain management. The RFID division of British Telecom, the BT Auto-ID Services has named the new service BT Foodnet, which has to be used for the food industries world-wide.

The new service largely depends upon RFID and other such auto identifications systems to generate data relating to materials and products used in the food industry and share it across the supply chain.

The ID company ensures its client companies to access detailed information of their products and as well as of other companies passing through the supply chain. By sharing data derived from closed-loop RFID and two dimensional and linear bar-codes auto-ID deployments, the suppliers can check over-delivery of products and avoid paying penalties for under delivery.
