California is on its way to protect the personal information collected by using RFID tags in the government documents and ID cards.
The state legislature has passed a bill, the Identity Information Protection Act 2006 last month. The prime objective of the legislation is to protect people from RFID abuses.
Once the bill becomes law, California will be considered as the first state to create comprehensive safeguards for personal data collected by using RFID tags.
Undeniably, the law would also intensify the use of controversial RFID chips for various applications.
