China-based Lawsgroup, a global apparel-manufacturing conglomerate proved how the use of RFID technology brings remarkable improvement in the clothing production. The contract manufacturer has installed an RFID-enabled tracking system six years ago and now reaping the benefits.



Since the major supplier of garments and other fashionable clothing materials to the leading US retailers such as the Gap, Old Navy and J.C Penney, Lawsgroup got frequent orders from clothing designers to manufacture more garment styles each year with increasingly shorter lead times. They requested more timely or fashionable products in each season.



In brief, the deadline pressure forced the company to adopt a technology that would support a leaner manufacturing process with great control over each production step.



It replaced RFID enabled smart cards to paper tickets. By using these smart cards, the manufactures could get information regarding the production process in the manufacturing unit and keep track on the employees.
