The wireless major WhereNet has installed its active RFID and Real-Time Locating Systems technology at Ford’s Oakville Assembly Complex (OAC) in Ontario, Canada. With this deployment, the leading wireless company will enhance the efficiency of OAC’s freight and inventory management system.
For the last six years, WhereNet has been providing RFID services to the Ford, the leading motor company of Canada. Ford Motor Company has been using wireless location systems of WhereNet at its 50 facilities worldwide. With the latest installment covering the entire 5.4m square foot OAC facility, the WhereNet implementation will be the largest RTLS based management system for an automotive manufacturer in the world.
The Vice President of WhereNet’s automotive division, Tom Bacon stated,
The WhereNet system gives Ford the agility to manage its inbound supply chain on a minute-by-minute basis to support flexible manufacturing processes and rapidly adjust to shifting market demands.
