IBM has awarded Canadian company Marnlen RFiD, a division of Marnlen Management Ltd to manufacture secured RFID tags to protect consumer privacy.
The newest tag is known as Clipped Tag, which has been designed at the IBM’s Watson Research Center. These tags reduce read range by enabling the consumers to scratch the majority of an RFID tag’s antenna. At the same time, the tag provides reliable services to the customers.
Andris Lauris, Vice President Business Development at Marnlen Management opines,
IBM’s Clipped Tag concept is an elegant way to promote the benefits of RFID while protecting privacy. We’re excited to be the first company in our industry to make the concept a reality.
