Ingram Micro Inc. has fully acquired the assets of SymTech Nordic AS, the leading Nordic distributor of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) and point-of-sale (POS) technologies to solution providers and system integrators. The company did not reveal the terms of the transaction.
In European RFID and enterprise mobility market, the acquisition assumes much significance. The transaction highlights their strategy of expanding into contiguous technologies permitting Ingram Micro to distinguish itself in the upcoming market.
Greg Spierkel, CEO, Ingram Micro Inc quoted,
While SymTech generates a small fraction of the Europe region’s overall sales, it provides attractive growth and gross margin characteristics while creating a platform for global reach in this category. Through SymTech, Ingram Micro becomes the only distributor with an AIDC/POS presence on four continents, complementing the acquisition of U.S.-based Nimax and the launch of AIDC/POS/RFID divisions in our Latin America and Asia Pacific regions within the last two years.
Ingram Micro has acquired all the assets of SymTech and its subsidiaries, which have strong base throughout the Nordic region. As per the deal, SymTech’s employees will be provided employment with Ingram Micro’s three Scandinavian companies. SymTech will function as a specialized division within Ingram Micro Nordics.
