EPCglobal’s GS1 Bahrain has announced that the International Standards Organization (ISO) has incorporated the UHF Gen-2 air interface protocol into the ISO/IEC 19000-6 Amendment 1 as Type C on UHF RFID.
The ISO approval on UHF Generation 2 air interface protocol is a major landmark because it provides recognition of the work that EPCglobal community is undertaking to frame user-friendly technical standards to advance the adoption of EPC/RFID technologies in supply chains throughout the world.
EPCglobal is developing industry-driven standards for the Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) to enhance RFID technology in the current information rich, trading networks.
Its UHF Gen-2 Air Interface standards will enable the RFID hardware manufacturers to create more useful and adoptable hardware for supply chain management.
