The RFID technology gets a wider reorganization in Japan with its Internal Affairs and Communication Ministry is all set to approve the use of active RFID chips capable of sending data across a distance of more than 100 meters. Nihon Keizai Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper reported.

Like USA and other European countries, Japanese government is on its way to use active RFID chips for export and import control of cargo containers at airports and ports. Japan has decided to set the radio frequency at 433 MHz like USA.

As we know Active RFID chips equipped with batters, use high-power Radio waves for long-range data transmission. These tags bearing unique ID numbers would be embedded in the containers that pass through ports and airports. The tag would provide information regarding the movement of the containers.

As of now, the Japanese tags are unable to communicate across a distance more than 100 meter. For this reason, it cannot be put to identify large items such as cargo containers.
