Toy maker Mattel is developing a new video gaming platform for kids using Innovision Research & Technology’s contanctless RFID reader and rewritable video tag technology.
Dubbed as Hyperscan, the hybrid games platform combines video games with collectable cards. These cards would be embedded with RFID chip and a reader plugs into the games console.
Players should scan their RFID attached cards to empower their characters to come to life on the screen. Rescanning is also allowed during the game to boost their characters. After the game is over, players are required to scan their cards again to save their new winning powers.
Perhaps, it is the first major RFID gaming system, which would be available this month.
