A recent study conducted jointly by Quality Education Data and Follett Software Company points out that asset loss and damage costs the average education department nearly a quarter of a million dollars annually. While, the larger school districts sustain greater losses, some topping $1.4 million in loss and damage yearly.

The study also finds out the districts that adopt manual tracking for computers reported a 41 percent annual cost of loss or damage than that used a commercial asset-tracking program.
