Noticing customers’ complain on copper inlays, Omron RFID has launched a new aluminum HF inlay for the use in security and asset tracking applications in the library and access control systems.
The inlay is branded as V730SD13-PO1. Its size is to that of a credit card and compliant with the ISO15693 HF standard for 13.56MHz frequency. The new inlays perform same function like the copper inlays.

Omron RFID which has been producing copper inlays for the RFID tags has received customers’ complaints on this type of inlays due to environmental concerns about disposal of copper waste. These wastes are harmful for environment. Therefore, it has developed a aluminum inlays instead of copper.

Commenting on the new inlay, the company says,

The combination of an aluminum antenna with Omron’s patented chip bonding technology called Jomful dramatically reduces the use of environmentally unfriendly materials and enables us to meet RoHS standards.

However, the company asserted that it would not stop the production of copper inlays for the RFID market.
