Efficiency is the key factor for the growth of a business set-up. To run the business efficiently, the retailers, wholesalers or manufacturers need to take a series of measures. One such measure is adopting RFID technology.
Retailers selling a long list of products to different customers always need to monitor their inventories. So that they can keep updated data on the merchandise. In the competitive market, holding excess stock or below the required stock will retard the progress of the business. Besides monitoring inventories, a businessperson need to be sure that the products arrived on their loading docks is the items they ordered or not.
The latest RFID technology fulfills all these requirements of the retailers by rendering them cost effective services. The benefits of RFID technology have attracted retailers to work with it. Wal-Mart, the leading retailer of the world fully exploits the technology and gets the advantages. It codes each item separately. By implementing RFID technology, Wal-Mart is able to know the items, which it has not ordered, and checks counterfeit items.
Jack Grasso, a spokesperson for EPCglobal US says that at the very highest level, this (RFID) provides an unprecedented visibility of products in the supply chain. He added that companies could know where everything is virtually all the time. They can reduce their stock because they know exactly what they have in the back room and they know exactly what is moved off the shelf. Wal-Mart receives around three million cartoons every week, which are RFID tagged. Over three hundred of Wal-Mart’s suppliers have started using this latest technology.
