Despite privacy problems, the RFID market will grow on for the next 10 years. The marketing RFID tags particularly active tags would increase significantly during this period. The use of active RFID tags would be high among the retailers.
An Analyst IDTechEx report predicts the current market for RFID would increase 12 times more by 2016 as more business enterprises keen to utilize this technology in the supply chain management and procurement.
As of now, active RFID shares 20 percent of all RFID sales. In figure, it is $550 million. The selling of active RFID tags would touch $6.78 billion over the next ten years, the report claims.
The greatest advantage of active RFID is that it could produce good results when applied in the more challenging environments such as metal storage containers and underwater.
