The Psychiatric Ward at Rockhampton Base hospital in Queensland, Australia has now a strong alarm system based on RFID technology. The hospital faced security lapses following the damage of alarm system of the healthcare unit due to construction work.
As we know, the psychiatric ward requires a strong alarm system for the safety of medical staffs. Therefore, the healthcare unit introduced a batter powered RFID cards for sending alerts.
Portrac iD’s Duress Alarm Card, that combines long-range wireless duress transmitter, proximity access control and photo ID in a single credit card sized device has been used to ensure safety and security of patients as well as medical staffs. The battery powered RFID tag operates at 433 MHz.
For example, if a nurse needs any kind of assistance from her co-workers, she just needs to click a button at the back of the card and a signal would be transmitted to the RFID reader for alert. Soon after, the name, photograph and location of the nurse will be displayed. The medical staffs will come for her rescue.
