Savi Technolgy, a leading provider of RFID solutions has announced that it has got official approval from the China State Radio Regulation Committee (SRRC), a division of the China Ministry of Information Industry to use RFID tags, readers and signposts throughout the country.
Savi Technology’s tags and readers are compatible with the ISO 18000-7 standard for active RFID products operating at the 433.92 MHz radio frequency band.
Commenting on the approval, Savi’s Vice President for standards and regulatory affairs, Fraser Jennings says that the certification ‘further validates international recognition standard ISO 18000-7 is the global standard’.
He added that Australia, Korea, Taiwan and the municipality of Hong Kong have granted similar approvals to Savi, showing solid support for the 433 MHz frequency as the worldwide choice for active RFID.
However, the Radio Spectrum Committee of European Commission has favored the use of 865 to 868 MHz frequency band.
The commission claims that standardizing on that band will result in the use of tags, which are less expensive. These tags can be read in few seconds over greater distances.
