Stora Enso, the paper maker and packaging specialists from Finland is preparing a new software application using RFID along with other techs to help companies track products and protect their authenticity.



The application christened ‘PackAgent’ is aiming the pharmaceutical industry initially along with consumer electronics and media industries. However, it is eventually intended to provide safeguard against product violations like counterfeiting etc by helping companies across the supply chain monitor and authenticate products moving from manufacturer to wholesaler, retailer and even consumer.



It works by collecting serialized identification data from various input devices, then sharing it among supply chain players and their business applications like ERPS (Enterprise Resource Planning Systems).
