Sun Microsystems and IBM have upgraded middleware in order to handle the large quantities of data that firms are gaining from wireless tags. Sun Microsystems has launched the Sun’s Java System RFid software which has been designed to simplify the deployment and administration of RFid networks. It also enables tighter integration with business applications that can present supply chain data from RFid tags.

On the other hand, IBM has introduced a new service that would help companies deploy RFid technology to track critical resources such as high value or hazardous materials. It also introduced Web Sphere premises Server Version 1.1 which is an upgraded middleware server that lets firms tag items at manufacturing line speeds.
