Coming together is the beginning and working together is the success. That is what the two leading RFID developers Symbol Technologies and Intermec have realized finally. They have settled their intellectual property (IP) disputes and signed a four-year agreement to join forces to expand their networking in the competitive RFID market.





They would not sue each other during the contract period and agreed to cross licensing of certain patens. The market leaders particularly the shareholders and customers have welcomed the settlement.



Intermec had field a suite against Matrics Corporation alleging the infringement of its patents in 2004. Symbol Technologies now owns Matrics Corp. Symbol had filed a case last year complaining that Intermec infringed certain Symbol RFID bar code scanning and wireless patents.Intermec filed counterclaims in the US International Trade Commission against Symbol. The hostile relations not only affected these two companies but also the customers and market leaders.
