TAGSYS will assume a library RFID project in China. It will go on at the Shenzhen Library. TAGSYS will install about two million RFID tags on books, CDs, VHS tapes, patron cards and other library materials at Shenzhen Library by the end of this month.
In terms of tags used in the project, it would be the largest RFID library deployment in China and second largest in the world. TAGSYS’s RFID deployment at Seattle Public Library is the first largest deployment.
The Shenzhen Library is famous for its technological and architectural innovations. With 50,000 square meter area, the library has the capability to lay up more than four million books serving 8,000 patrons and circulate 50,000 volumes every day. The library will be opened for the public form next month onwards.
TAGSYS has taken a series of initiatives to expand their business in Asia. It has opened its Hong Kong office in 2004. The leading RFID tags developer has also teamed up with NEC Corporation, internet, broadband and enterprise business solutions provider and Shenzhen Seaever Enterprise Co. Ltd. The Shenzhen Seaever Enterprise is joining forces with TAGSYS for the library RFID deployment project.
