After facing hurdles during the RFID trials, the UK-based supermarket Tesco has determined to postpone the large-scale implementation of RFID technology in its various stores.



Tesco had much earlier reveled that it would deploy RFID tags and readers in 1,400 shops and distribution centers by middle of this year. However, it has installed RFID tags just in 40 stores and one depot.


A lot of rollouts have had problems with one reader interfering with another because retailers are using UHF bands that are not as efficient

However, the supermarket asserted that RFID technology has sought time to implement RFID tags in its stores and distributing centers. It has decided to attach RFID tags on transport items such as cages and trolleys but not the individual items.
