Two road blockages impede the spread of RFID. One, the high price of RFID tags. The RFID tags that are attached to products and send or receive information cost around $0.50-$0.75 a piece, even though some suppliers may seel thses tags for as low as $0.15 each. Analysts say that for RFID to be adapted by companies not on the Fortune 500 list, the price per tag must drop to about $0.05.

Two, RFID implepmetation requires much preparation. A company must reorganize and restructure its distribution center before it starts on implementing an RFID solution.
