Visa is seriously contemplating its take on secured contactless card payment. Visa USA despite the rumors that remote frequency identification tags are vulnerable to viruses and prone to middleware application attack confirmed that it has taken safety parameters to a new level and the total processing of transaction is totally different than run of the mill RFID technology being deployed in inventory management.

Broadly there are three basic differences between the radio frequency technology used in payment system like this and technology used for other applications.

They are:

1. Read distance: RFID tags can be read over long distances while contactless cards must be held up to a reader.

2. Encryption: While RFID tags typically do not use any encryption, contactless payment cards use 128-bit and triple DES encryption.

3. Numeric code: A unique numeric code is generated by contactless chips in payments transactions. Without the code, a transaction is declined by the system.
